Transitions are a Part of Life
Perhaps you’ve heard the saying that change is the only constant. For the most part, I think it’s true. I’ve experienced many changes in my life: entering or leaving a job, moving to a new city, beginning or ending an important relationship, starting a business. Sometimes these changes were welcome, but some of them caught me by surprise. Looking back, I see how each change was ultimately an external situation that afforded me the opportunity for personal development and internal transformation.
I wish I could say that I took the utmost advantage of those learning opportunities, but the truth is that I was sometimes so focused on starting the next job, arriving in the new city, or managing the relationship that I didn’t slow down enough to explore and address some questions that seemed to rise up and not have easy, clear answers. I didn’t get what I could have out of the actual time of transition.
One author defines a transition as “an in-between period in life development when individuals consolidate past learning, process issues of character, deepen convictions and values, and are prepared for the next phase of their development.” Transitions help individuals gain greater clarity about who they are and how they can be more aligned with God’s purposes for them and this world.
You or someone you know could be in a time of transition if you are asking such questions as:
Why have I lost my passion?
Why do I feel isolated?
Why can’t I shake this restlessness?
Where is this heading?
Why do things have to change?
Why is all this happening right now?
My personal mission is to help people live the abundant life God has for them and I’m excited to do that professionally through Espere Coaching. I help Christians navigate life transitions by walking alongside them and providing a safe space from which to discover, explore, and create a path forward to new opportunities. Times of transition can be some of the most fruitful times in our lives. Don’t let this time go to waste…and stay hopeful.
The best is yet to come!
